The Doors of Durin (Glow in the Dark)
“Mellon” The Doors of Durin. Nightglowing painting. Referring to the book and the movie, the door is invisible during daylight (left) and bluishly visible in the dark (right). The Doors of Durin, also known as the West-gate and Elven Door, were built in the dark cliffs of the Silvertine mountain and protected the entrance to what became the goblin-realm of Moria, once the Dwarven kingdom of Khazad-dûm. The doors are notable for being inlaid with ‘ithildin’, which only reflects when star or moonlight hit it.
